This itinerary is for our guests who would like to have the wildlife experience after hiking Mount Kilimanjaro and spend more time enjoying the wildlife in the plains and highlands of Africa with more time in Serengeti with two nights with one full day inside the Serengeti plains. It also gives much room to visit a different part of the parks and also ample time to see the migration if in the right season.

The trip will start with Lake Manyara, the beautiful small park about a 90minutes drive from Arusha town, where we will do different activities including a nature walk and game drive inside the park, the park has a lot to offer including the tree-climbing lions, hippo pools, underground hot springs, different vegetation zones, and the underground water forest.

The Serengeti has a lot to offer including a game drive on the way, wildebeest migration, abundance of animals including Giraffe, Zebras, Gazelles, Elephants, Lion, Cheetahs, Leopards, Topi, Waterbucks, and many more.

The name Serengeti comes from the Maasai word Siringit means endless plains, it is like a sea of grass. The Serengeti migration of more than 1.5 million animals including Wildebeest, Zebras, and Gazelles is the most celebrated and well-known wildlife event in the world and was named one of the seven natural wonders.

Spend two nights in Serengeti with game drives and then proceed to Ngorongoro for a full-day game drive before driving back to Arusha.

Day by Day Itinerary

After the hike spend the day readying ourselves for the safari.

Lake Manyara is a beautiful small park on the northern part of Tanzania. The park has an area of 648.7 km2 (402 sq miles) of which 262.7 km2 (163 sq miles) is covered by lake and 386 km2 (240 sq miles) is dry land.

Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park. At the backdrop is the wall of the Great Rift Valley, before which lies the ground water forest, areas of open grassland near the lake foreshore, and the Soda Lake. The park also consists of open grassy areas, hot springs, dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise that has more than 350 species of bird. The park is also famed for its unique and elusive tree-climbing lions.

In the morning you will drive to Lake Manyara after breakfast, the drive will take about 90minutes from Arusha. At the gate while registering there is a beautiful trail for walking with birds, baboons and blue monkey are common sighting.

The walk is worthwhile as you will be spending most of the day inside the car and it might be worth it to get out and stretch and learn a few things about the richness of the park.

Lake Manyara is supported by the underground water sources from the Ngorongoro highlands and the first thing you will encounter is the underground water forest with herds of Elephant, Buffalos, Blue monkeys and large troops of baboons. 

Tree climbing lions can be found in the park although it becoming an increasingly rare occasion, the endangered African Wild dog has been seeming roaming in packs and it’s a rare sighting. Lake Manyara has different vegetations zones including forest, savanna, grassland and woodland which in turn support a diverse species of animals and birds.

It’s beautiful park and if the weather and time allows don’t leave without visiting the underground hot springs.

Leave the park in the evening and drive to the Ngorongoro highlands for dinner and overnight

The Serengeti could very well be the Mecca of all national parks in the world. With wildlife happenings which possess a certain fanfare that could be compared to major sporting events.

It has deep significance to the heritage of the area and is famous the world over not just for its natural wonders but for its world-class accommodation facilities and safari tours.

The drive to Serengeti will take about five hours, your driver guide will advise to leave around 8-9am morning so as to try to arrive in Serengeti by noon.

You will drive through the Ngorongoro conservation area on your way to Serengeti and you will spend some time at the gate(where you can visit the museum while your guide is doing registration procedures) and a stop at Ngorongoro view point to get a sneak peak of the crater, on a good morning with your binoculars you can see animals inside the crater.

On the way your driver will be keeping you updated on the distance and also make few stops for game viewing on the way as sometimes there is a possibilities of seeing different animals like Elephant, Lions, Giraffe, Gazelles, Zebras, Wildebeest on the way.

You will arrive at the Serengeti national park gate around noon and we will have our picnic lunch there and while your guide is doing the registration process for entering the park, you can take an opportunity to hike the Naabi hill gorge to experience the breathtaking views of the Serengeti plains, where the grasslands appear to stretch to the ends of the earth, pride of lions stalking across open plains, wildebeest and zebra migrating in their millions, following the ancient instinct in pursuit of food in these African plains.

At the top of the Kopjes you may see Elephants, monitor lizards, Baboons, Velvet Monkeys and different species of birds.

After entering the park you driver will open the roof of the car so that you could start viewing the animals when encounter them

Depend on the distance to the lodge you will be doing a game drive on the way to your lodge or tented camp.
Your guide will propose you leave for a full day game drive inside the Serengeti plains and woodland with your picnic lunch so as to see the best of the park.

The fourth day you will leave early for a morning game drive with your picnic lunch, game drive around central Serengeti whereby there is very rewarding wildlife including Leopard, Lions, Cheetahs, Wildebeest, Crocodiles, Gazelles, Baboons, Zebras, Topi, Caracal, Elephants,
Late afternoon drive out of the park to Ngorongoro crater rim for dinner and overnight.

Ngorongoro Crater is a must visit even if you have only one day to visit an Tanzania game park.

It is an award winning conservation area (One of the seven Natural Wonders of Africa).

The crater is a place of sublime beauty, and repository of Africa’s finest wildlife. All the Big five are present – Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Lion, living in a privileged existence on the 10o square miles and 21 kilometers wide there cannot be a better place for observing Lions lazily walking or sleeping close to the game drive roads, chance to see a cheetah running at a distance, the only place with a great chance of the seeing the endangered Black Rhino.

Its crater views are astonishing.
The Ngorongoro crater is quite possibly the most famous of all Africa’s conservation areas.

The largest unbroken caldera in the world covering around 260 square km, it is 600 meter deep and a home to permanent population of more than 30,000 animals and is one of the place where you will have a chance of seeing the Big five animals.
